Texas Private Schools Association

If you are with a school who has been a member of TPSA in the past, then you have received an invoice via email.

We are so thankful for the many schools who have joined for the 2016-2017 school year already!  We are on track to break another membership record.  We are stronger together.

Schools that have not been a member in the past will be getting information in the next month including a membership application.  Membership ensures continued representation in Austin and DC in order to protect the indpendence and autonomy of private schools in Texas.

Please contact Laura at [email protected] for more information.

October Featured Schools

Congratulations to Brentwood Christian School in Austin, Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington, San Antonio Christian School, St. Mark Lutheran School in Houston, and Yorktown Education in Plano.  These are our amazing featured schools of the month!

It gets bigger and better every year, and TPSA is proud to be a part of this important statement to legislators that this issue is important!

TPSA will have buses provided this year along with an allowance for food for schools who want to attend the rally and visit legislators in the Capitol.  This is a great opportunity for schools to have the chance for a free field trip to the Capitol.  Please contact Laura - [email protected] for more information.

Senator Larry Taylor, seen here defending SB4, or the tax credit scholarship bill, in the Senate last session, provided a comprehensive analysis of where we are in school choice in Texas in this video for Choice Media.

Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. visited with private school leaders in Harlingen on Friday, September 30th.  He spoke about the need to connect with local legislators to remind them of the incredible things that private schools do every single day for education in Texas.  He also predicted another school choice victory in the Senate this session, but could not predict what will happen in the House.

House Public Education Interim Hearing on School Choice

The House Public Education Committee debated school choice in an interim hearing on October 17th.  Representative Dwayne Bohac, pictured here, defended school choice prgrams, specifically the tax credit scholarship program, promoted by TPSA.  There was quite a bit of opposition from teacher associations, the PTAs, and some Baptist pastors against school choice.  Photo credit to the Austin American-Statesman.
